How to Establish a 51ÁÔÆæ Foundation Scholarship Fund
We welcome scholarship donations for students at 51ÁÔÆæ. Scholarships may be given by an individual, family, organization, or business. The 51ÁÔÆæ Foundation is always in need of additional scholarship funds to help North Iowa students attend 51ÁÔÆæ. Scholarship donors have the following options:
*Endowed Scholarships
You may wish to arrange a permanent scholarship by creating an endowment. A minimum gift of $10,000 establishes the fund. The donated principal is never used; the interest accruing from the invested principal provides the scholarship. The Foundation Board has an investment and expenditure policy in place that has always allowed endowed funds to make annual awards regardless of investment returns. Awards can be based on criteria identified by the donor. Future contributions may be added to the fund at any time.
*Term Scholarships
Gifts of $500 or more may create a named scholarship. Awards can be based on criteria identified by the donor. A named scholarship will be awarded annually providing the fund has a balance of $500. The 51ÁÔÆæ Foundation typically awards term scholarships annually.
*General Scholarship Fund
Gifts under $500 can be designated for scholarships and placed in our general scholarship fund. Awards are made according to guidelines established by the College and the Foundation.
General Information
Donors of gifts over $500 can establish guidelines for selection. Examples are full-time or part-time student, entering or returning student, and/or educational focus. Restrictions based on race, sex, color, creed, or national origin are prohibited by federal law.
The application deadline for most scholarships is March 1, and awards are announced in May for the following September. Scholarship recipients are selected by a scholarship committee composed of 51ÁÔÆæ employees.
51ÁÔÆæ Foundation scholarship donations are tax deductible. For proper tax treatment of your donation, please consult your financial advisor.
The 51ÁÔÆæ Foundation is very grateful for your interest in our scholarship program. We welcome the opportunity to work with you to assure that your wishes are honored.
